Capital of Punjab and Haryana : Chandigarh

Chandigarh (a smart city and cleanest city of India) is the shared capital of both state punjab and haryana. It is the best administrated city in the country and it is designed by by the famous French Architect Le Corbusier. It is a beautiful city around the country because it is a mixture of greenery which occupy Large area and concert due to distinct identity.

It is a cleanest city since green revolution of the 1960s. It also has the highest per capita income and play a great role in agriculture field. The both northern state Haryana and punjab have a larger part in agriculture boom.So after partition in 1947, the British province of Punjab was divided into East Punjab (in India) and West Punjab (in Pakistan).


Indian punjab was separated in 1966s and announced that chandigarh will be the capital of both state because it is a share city between Haryana and Punjab.
Chandigard is directly governed by the Union Government of Punjab and Haryana. It is the dream city of Prime Minister, Sh. Jawahar Lal Nehru, which was planned by the famous French architect Le Corbusier. Governer of both states resides in chandigarh. Vidhansabha of both state are also located in chandigarh.

Govt Secretariat of both states are also there but both state had developed area adjacent to chandigarh, haryana had developed panchkula adjecnt to capital. Many of the govt offices are now located in panchkula due to lack of space and control of administration in chandigarh. In panchkula haryana govt is the administrator but they had to follow chandigarh administration in capital city.
