Jaipur is the official Capital of Rajasthan but the judiciary capital of Rajasthan is Jodhpur because the High Court is situated in Jodhpur. It is also known as the Pink city for its unique color across the city. Jaipur is the oldest and biggest planned city in the world. Its palaces and forts are reminders of the many kingdoms that historically vied for the region. It was built in eighteenth century by Raja Sawai Jai Singh. Jaipur is also most visited tourist destination in Rajasthan and famous for rich historical past of India, The royal and heritage buildings, Forts and palaces. Prince of Wales visited Jaipur During 1876 , then whole of the city was re-painted in pink color. Jaipur forms a part of the Golden Triangle tourist circuit along with national capital Delhi and Agra. The Golden Triangle is so called because of the triangular shape formed by the locations of New Delhi, Agra and Rajasthan on a map.
It is located 280 km (174 miles) from the Indian capital New Delhi and serves as a gateway to other tourist destinations in Rajasthan such as Jodhpur (348 km, 216 mi), Jaisalmer (571 km, 355 mi) Udaipur (421 km, 262 mi) and Mount Abu(520 km, 323 mi).
